Coming to Cobourg

Welcome to Peace, Love & Rug’n Roll, in Cobourg!  You might be coming here for any number of reasons….including:

  • to drop off rugs for judging at the Annual Conference - due to us by April 23, or
  • to visit the display of rugs at the Art Gallery of Northumberland - between April 29 and May 10, or
  • to attend the actual Annual Conference on May 10!

We’d love to welcome you and give you some ideas of things to do while in town, whether for the day or for a weekend.  There are shops and restaurants to entice and intrigue you, throughout the area….and so much more!  Here are links to some of the local tourism sites:

Cobourg Downtown Business Association lists stores, restaurants and much more.
Our downtown may be small….but it has been described as “8 blocks of awesome”!  There are also several walking tours - great for those who want to enjoy some of our history and waterfront.

Experience Cobourg has info on shopping, etc, as well as accommodation and what’s on in the area.  There’s info on the Beach, too: it’s a treasured local “secret”.  While April and May are a tad cold for a dip, it’s a lovely stretch of shoreline to enjoy.

Visit Port Hope has info relating to the downtown Port Hope area….and it’s just a few km west of Cobourg!  It’s known as “Ontario’s Favourite Small Town”.

If you want to expand your horizons, why not consider all of Northumberland County? They have a great tourism site, with driving tours, cycling tours, buttertart tasting….mmmmm, yum!

…and if you want to hang out with a few rug hookers, our group meets every Thursday at Grace Church, 440 King Street East, from 9:30-11:30, tho if you show up close to the Annual you may be roped into helping stuff goodie bags or something!
